Honestly, I don’t write or comment when a celebrity dies just because I feel it won’t make any difference and acknowledging that person in your heart is way better than acknowledging the person on social media, but the news of someone committing suicide always disturbs me whether it is of a celebrity or a common man. Today when I heard about actor Sushant Singh Rajput committing suicide I was in utter shock, not that I knew him personally or he was my favourite or I looked upto him, nothing like that, I don’t even know the kind of person he was and his sufferings in life, although he looked like a decent, kind hearted guy, but again you never know. This man was 34 years old, achieved a hell lot of things in his life, academically, professionally, and that too at a very young age. Whenever I saw him onscreen I always loved the bright, wide smile that he had on his face, and today since I heard of his death I really can’t process it, infact not just his death, I have heard and read a lot of people committing suicide in this lockdown period and even before that, and it always leaves me with a disturbed mind and a saddened heart, I really can’t imagine the state of being the person was living in that the only option left is to take one’s own life.

Depression is bad, I have always said it, it is beyond your control, your mind, your thoughts are just so vulnerable that it cannot be explained or understood. Life isn’t easy but life isn’t a joke either. I know there is anxiety, panic attacks, the urge to not live anymore and a lot more going on inside a person dealing with depression. I have heard a lot of people saying think about your parents/partner/ children before you think of ending your life, but depression doesn’t really leaves the ability to think, to understand or to acknowledge, it makes you weak mentally, emotionally and physically. It is not something that you have to deal with at one day and it vanishes on the other day, it is a long process of healing, and you can only start healing when you want to, there’s no other thing that can get you out of depression. Talking is a vital step in the process of healing, talk to anyone you want, maybe your parents, your friends, your teachers, your partner or maybe a stranger, just say it out, and I know it takes a lot of courage to accept that you are suffering from depression in front of someone else, but understand,

a) it is not a disease that cannot be cured,
b) if you share it with someone you’ll actually feel better and light at heart,
c) the fear of judgment will vanish and that will help you regain your confidence.

Read, reading helps you a lot,

a) it helps you divert your thoughts,
b) it helps you imagine things that puts you in a better state of mind,
c) it helps you retrieve your concentration power so that you concentrate on things you enjoy doing rather than just thinking about your hardships.

Meditate/ practice yoga/ walk/ jog, do any kind of physical activity that you like and even if you don’t enjoy doing it, just do it, start practising and you’ll develop a habit it helps to calm your nerves down, it removes anxiety, it lets you breathe fresh, it brings a ray of positivity in life and it helps your mind to generate positive thoughts.
Drink a lot of water, as vain as it may sound, water really helps, it keeps your body hydrated, you don’t feel low on energy, it helps your mind process better thoughts, it helps your skin healthier and it helps remove toxins from your body.
Avoid caffeine as much as you can, avoid sitting alone and idle, avoid reading, listening anything that is too dark and depressing, avoid meeting people that you think are ready to pull your confidence down or by any chance demotivate you, avoid anything and everything that makes you feel bad, weak, ignored, disturbed or makes you feel low.

Try to find happiness in everything you do, and quit things that don’t make you happy, even if it requires a lot of strength and even if it involves a lot of risk, just put an end to something that doesn’t makes you happy because it isn’t worth sacrificing your life for. Look for positivity around you, believe in yourself, believe in god or any supreme power that you think exists, slow down even if it means delaying your success, it’s okay, it’s better late than never. Take your time, the right one’s will still stand strong by your side and you’ll get better, you get there, you’ll get what you want and if not that then you’ll get what’s best for you, so just STAY, BREATHE and BELIEVE.
